Wise Service Dog Coaching

In 2019, my life course changed completely when I was involved in a car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury. At the time of the accident I had recently completed a pre-medicine program, was studying for the MCAT and training my service dog Daphne to accompany me at school. Unfortunately, due to injuries I sustained, I did not return to school to fulfill my dream of becoming a psychiatrist.

Home bound and recovering, I shifted focus to rehabilitation and training Daphne to assist me with my new life. During training I used different techniques that I learned from my past experience with dogs, Daphne’s breeder (one of the best service dog trainers on earth) and my science background. What I discovered is a teachable, effective method for training service dogs.

My experience created the inspiration for Wise Woofs, a canine education company with a special interest in service dogs. We research behavior and health and create content for dog lovers. Finding the right service dog and trainer can be a daunting task full of anxiety. I learned this firsthand. I want to share my insight with potential or existing service dog owners to help make this process easier and more enjoyable! Helping people and dogs is not a job for me, it’s a passion. I hope this service leads to improvements in quality of life for individuals with disabilities and removes some of the hurdles that exist to integrate a service dog into life.

My team and I are here to assist with finding the right dog, puppy life, advanced training and everything service dog related in between! I am also open to working with anyone who wants to train their dog to an advanced level, including ESA’s and certified therapy dogs.

The techniques and methods I incorporate into my training program and philosophy are FUN! Designed to create a positive learning and living experience for you and your dog. I use a rewards based approach that encourages the development of problem solving skills with minimum corrective practices. I DO NOT use choke chains, prongs, or e-collars. If you want to use those products, I am not the trainer for you. In addition to being unpleasant, these methods risk disrupting the creation of the strong bond my practices develop. The bond is our best training tool as well as resulting reward for a great service dog team.
